TRAVEL DIARY: Mt. Gulugod Baboy, Anilao

Adventure days are my favorite kind of days!

It’s such a rare treat to be able to escape the city for a few hours. My body still aches and I’m sunburned as hell, but my heart is happy with memories of a new place conquered.

MT. GULUGUD BABOY. Anilao, Batangas. From Alabang, the trip is about 1.5 hours.

Marco and I climbed Mt. Gulugud Baboy last Saturday. Getting there was easy: we simply took SLEX southbound all the way to Star toll and followed Google maps to the very edge of Luzon—Anilao, Batangas. However, it was a tougher climb than we’d expected. Our research told us this mountain is a 2/9 but it felt more like a 4/9 most likely because we haven’t climbed in a while and the sun was blazing summer. This is also the first time we climbed without a tour guide. We felt confident about going on our own because a lot of other groups were also on the trail.

The first part was actually the most difficult: a steep uphill paved road, but after that the climb is manageable 🙂

MOUNTAIN DEW. Heaven sent cold drinks on the way up.

FOLLOW ME TO. Couldn’t help but take this now-typical travel photo hehe

But as always, the struggle was worth it. The path leading up to the top is exactly how I would imagine the stairway to heaven to be. The peaks were simply beautiful. Rolling hills as far as the eye could see. Surrounded by tall grass, breeze in our hair and sunshine heavy on our skin—I never felt more alive.

My favorite thing about adventure days? The small moments full of love, laughter, and all the good stuff that make life worth living.

Till next time!
